The Alder Buckthorn is native to much of Britain, it grows to a height of 16ft (5m) It grows in damp woods and is often found associated with Alder. Its hanging yellow leaves and purple berries make it particularly attractive in autumn. Unlike other buckthorns, it does not carry thorns.
